My husband and I traveled to multiple destinations throughout Italy for our honeymoon and it was a DREAM! I’m covering the high-level itinerary here. See my other posts to get the details on each location specifically! You could literally go to just one of these locations and have the best time, or couple a few together if you try to cram in as many places at once like me!

We covered the below cities in Italy:
- Positano
- Capri
- Praiano
- Florence
- Cinque Terre
- Tuscany
- Rome
Our plan was to head to the southern part of Italy to have the more beachy part of the trip first. Right after our wedding we wanted to relax and have some cocktails on the beach and save the city exploration for the latter part of the trip. So, we flew into Naples – we chose this based on it being a main airport and was the closest to our southern destinations – and had a car service drive us down to our hotel located in Positano.
Positano

Hoooooly stairs! I did my research and I fully understood that Positano is built into a cliff and therefore there was going to be altitude involved while getting around.. but my goodness. I LOVED where we stayed and luckily it wasn’t so high up, but I would consider staying closer to sea level so that we didn’t have to climb up and down SO many stairs every time we left our hotel haha. That said, it was so worth it- it was a beautiful city with amazing views, fabulous restaurants, and gorgeous beach clubs. Read more in my Positano, Italy post!
Capri

Capri is breathtaking- we did this as a day trip from Positano. It’s a quick 45-minute ferry ride to the island of Capri. We spent the day here and ferried back to Positano in the afternoon. The island is gorgeous but we had a not so great day but it led to a funny story and memory for us 😀 Read about my misery here –> !
Praiano
On recommendation from a friend, we booked reservations at a beach club in Praiano for the day. This was such a highlight for us! It was a little pricey, but we spent the entire day there with amazing food and drinks. It was a quick boat ride away from our hotel and so worth it.
That wrapped up our Amalfi Coast portion of our trip; we took a car service back to Naples, and then took the train from Naples to Florence. Traveling by train through Italy was SO easy to navigate and I highly recommend.
Florence

This was my husband’s favorite stop on our entire trip to Italy! Such a beautiful and historic city but we didn’t feel lost- it was manageable to walk around and navigate. This was our next stop after the Amalfi Coast portion of the trip so it was a nice change of pace to go from beaches to city life. From Florence we did day trips to both Cinque Terre and “Tuscany” (Florence is the capital of the Tuscany region so technically we were in Tuscany… but for the purposes of this post I’m separating Tuscany as its own day trip, where we did a winery tour because what’s more ~Tuscan~ than that?!
Cinque Terre

We signed up for a day trip to Cinque Terre from Florence, which was a little out of the way considering we had just come from the south.. but we had so many people tell us we needed to visit Cinque Terre so we decided to do it! We traversed the 5 seaside villages in one day which was exhausting but also a great way to see so much of this area in Italy in a short time!
Tuscany

We lived out my “Under the Tuscan Sun” dreams with a vineyard tour through 3 different wineries with mass amounts of wine and cheese. This was one of my favorite days in Italy by FAR. So beautiful, romantic, and delicious.
From Florence we took another quick train ride to Rome for our last and final stop.
Rome

I had traveled to Rome before so I was somewhat familiar with the city but there is so much to see and do here. We toured the city on foot on our own which was much more manageable than you might assume. We saw the sights, ate the pizzas and drank the espressos during our last stop as a beautiful farewell to Italy.
From Rome we (sadly) flew back home to the US to get back to normal life. This was such an amazing trip and I feel like it’s not even the tip of the iceberg of all there is to see and do in Italy. My husband and I are already daydreaming of returning to Italy to explore some more!
